Dates: Wednesdays 1 – 4pm
Nov 8, 15, 29, Dec 6, 13 *This class skips Nov 22

This class focuses on painting materials, tools and techniques, rather than just a subject matter. This class cultivates group discussion about the validity - pro & con - of abstract and/or expressionistic painting. Acrylic will be the paint of choice. You will experiment with a variety of ways and tools to apply paint. Free yourself to let loose and try something new, without the pressure of a specific subject. You will explore the key elements of abstract painting, such as line, form, color, shape, texture, and value all for their own sake. This class will discuss some of the work and the philosophy of the early abstract expressionists of the 1950s and their influences.
